A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck overnight near the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean, the Hong Kong Observatory said on Wednesday.
The quake was centered in seas 630 kilometres north of Saipan and was recorded in Hong Kong at 21.04 pm on Wednesday.

It wasn't immediately clear if the tremor led to any casualties or damage.
