After its beginning in 2010 with 30 cycles, CycleChalao was to provide last-mile connectivity on 2.5km between Mulund East Railway Station and Vaze Kelkar College. It was an instant hit among youngsters. The project, however, had to be wound up.
Bengaluru
Kerberon Automations came up with bicycle-sharing system known as ATCAG (Automated Tracking and Control of Green Assets). The pilot project ran with nine cycles at three locations in the central business district of Bangalore. In August 2012, Namma Cycle was launched at IISC campus in Bangalore. Within five months of its operation, 3,000 trips have been made and it saved 300 liters of petrol.
