Meanwhile, the Pradesh Congress Committee has called for a meet to chalk out strategies to restore confidence among the minority community.

"Some elements are trying to derive political mileage from the situation. Even last evening when I was there (Sanvordem) I was told that some Hindu organisations had given call for a bandh", Patel, who arrived in Panaji on Sunday, said before attending the PCC meeting.

"We have called for a PCC meeting to chalk out strategy to restore confidence among those belonging to minority community. Our minority cell is already in action and we have been meeting different groups and peoples in this regard", Patel said on Monday.

He said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi was "disturbed over such incidents in peaceful state like Goa."

"Ensuring normalcy in Sanvordem town and peace in the state is the priority at this juncture," Patel, who would report back to the party high command on the situation, said.
