These observations were made by the founder of the Ambedkar Samaj Party, Tej Singh. He said Dalits were disenchanted by the BSP as the party supreme had failed to deliver. Similarly, the minorities had lost confidence in the Samajwadi Party and they were in search of a third option. He claimed that both Dalits and Muslims were moving towards Ambedkar Samaj and UDF alliance in a natural way.
Talking to mediapersons, Tej Singh also attacked the Congress and said in 1953 it ignored the Kelkar Commission and Mandal Commission reports for vested interests. He said the Congress was marginalized in the State as it ignored the OBCs and cheated the minorities.
Hitting hard at BSP, Singh said the party had become Brahmin Samaj Party and Dalits had been sidelined.
Terming the alliance with the UDF as a milestone in the State politics, Singh said UDF was the umbrella organisation of various Muslim organizations, including Momin Conference, Jamat-e-Islami Hind, National Loktantrik Party and Indian National League. He claimed that 23 per cent minority votes and 28 per cent Dalit votes would damage the equation of various political parties.
Responding to a question, he said gone were the days when the BSP was a compulsion for the Dalit community. The Ambedkar Samaj had made a considerable dent in the BSP vote bank and the UDF had strong following among the minorities.
The alliance would register victory at various seats, he claimed and said that UDF would file 150 candidates and Ambedkar Samaj would file 200 candidates in the upcoming Assembly election.
Singh said a joint march had been planned from Ghazipur to Ghaziabad by UDF and Ambedkar Samaj Party and repeatedly said that criminals would not be allowed in his party.
