Anand Shankar has been appointed as Director General of Police (DGP) in Bihar, according to a notification issued by the state home department on Monday night.

Shankar, 1973 batch IPS officer, would replace incumbent D N Goutam who is due to retire on July 31.

The state government had last night effected a major administrative overhaul and appointed Anup Mukherjee, a 1974 batch IAS officer, as Chief Secretary of Bihar.
Mukherjee would replace the incumbent RJM Pillai who has opted for voluntary retirement service.
State government had transffered several officials of the rank of commissioner in an exercise aimed to tone the administration.
