Actress Angelina Jolie was haunted by her role as Mariane Pearl, the wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, when she filmed A Might Heart, based on a book written by Mariane.
The actress, who became friends with Mariane after an interview with a magazine, revealed that she became panicky and could not sleep the night before they started filming.
The Girl Interrupted actress said that she knew she was answerable to Pearl’s widow and her son, for whatever she portrayed in the film.
“The day before we started shooting, I hardly slept and I was in a panic. I had gotten to know her, and I'd gotten to know their son. And he thought that he would see this one day,” Hollywoodrag quoted her, as saying.
The Oscar winner added that it was her responsibility not only to tell the world but also Pearl’s son, how much Mariane and Daniel loved each other, and how they handled the critical time.
The actress added that these thoughts really ‘haunted’ her.
