Confirming the report and its contents, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said the reason behind the attack on assistant general manager Yogender Chaudhary was an apparent flare up between the ANL top officials and workers on November 13.

Police officials said the report was based on investigations and inputs from the local intelligence department.

The report stated that on the day of the incident a meeting was held between the workers and top officials of ANL to discuss the strike called by workers' union from November 16-18. During the meeting, the situation took a turn for the worse as both parties exchanged words. This led to the clash which was followed by HR manager Raj Kumar firing two shots from his licensed pistol to scare away the workers.

"It is apparent from the ongoing investigations that the sequence of events leading to Chaudhary's death was not planned and was out of provocation which resulted after the firing incident. Further investigations are under process," the SSP said.
