The army in Bhaderwah is lending a helping hand to the administration in providing the earthquake victims the daily essentials, such as drinking water, tents, etc.
According to the army, troops posted in Bhaderwah are sharing their own temporary accommodations with victims who are in distress. So far, the troops have provided 25 tents to victims. Besides, they are transporting the injured to sub-divisional hospital, making makeshift arrangements for their treatment in the hospital and have also constituted medical teams to assist the victims in far-flung areas.
Armymen who are venturing into interiors of the forested areas are also looking for any persons in need of assistance.
"With mild tremors still being felt after five days of earthquake, we are terrified to stay inside our cracked homes; therefore, the relief provided by the army has come as a boon in the time of distress" said Gulam Hussain, a resident of Bhaderwah.
Soon after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Bhaderwah in Doda district, the army responded immediately to the disaster and has been coordinating its relief work with the civil administration to ensure timely delivery of much-needed supplies.
