The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing into the gang rape and murder of two sisters in Katra Sadatganj village in Badaun district, on Wednesday registered the statement of family members of the victims and inspected the orchard in which the bodies of the girls was found hanging from a tree.

Later, CBI officers visited the district jail and grilled the five accused who allegedly raped the girls and hanged them from the tree. CBI has already registered case against the three brothers Pappu Yadav, Awadhesh Yadav and Urvesh Yadav, as well as constables Chhatrapal Yadav and Sarvesh Yadav. “We have moved petition in the district court take all the five accused on remand”, a CBI officer said.

The family members of the victim told CBI that the cops posted at the police outpost had established a reign of terror in the area. The two constables were hand in glove with anti social elements and had converted the police outpost into a den of the criminals. They often molested and harassed women and no action was taken despite a complaint lodged with the senior police officers.
