Police said that following the death of Nirbhay Singh, teacher at Saraswati Shishu Niketan in Aliganj locality after being hit by a sand-laden truck, students went on a rampage damaging about two dozen vehicles leading to a traffic jam.

Besides setting five trucks on fire, they also indulged in brick-batting and police had to use mild force to control the mob.

The situation has now been brought under control and additional force has been deployed as a precautionary measure, police said adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
