Following the expose of spot-fixing scandal in the ongoing Twenty20 League (T20) matches, an 'emergency' meeting of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took place in Chennai today.
Except T20 League chairman Rajeev Shukla and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) president Anil Kumble, other members of the 28 member committee were expected to attend the meeting.
According to BCCI sources, the meeting was called to address the immediate actions to be taken especially with respect to India and Kerala pacer Sreesanth and two other teammates who have confessed to the spot-fixing charge.
It will address issues to maintain a clear system to prevent such corrupt acts that tarnish the image of the most popular sport in the country and that of the BCCI.
The anti-corruption and security unit of the BCCI was also expected to be part of the meeting, according to sources.
Both Srinivasan and T20 chairman Rajiv Shukla have gone on record that a course of action would be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
The T20 Chairman has promised strongest possible action against the guilty.
