Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the beautification of Srinagar and Jammu was high on agenda during the last six years of his government. He said that numerous basic amenities were upgraded and several projects were launched and completed in the twin capitals of the state during this period.
He said a number of schemes were also started to enhance the basic services and decongest the traffic system.
The chief minister said that various sewerage and drainage schemes have been launched and completed in Srinagar and Jammu, which included the construction of STPs and sewerage system.
He said two flyovers at a cost of Rs 350 crore are under construction at present while more than a dozen of bridges have been constructed in the two cities to ensure smooth plying of vehicles.
Abdullah said that more and more tourism and economic activities are being generated to boost the economic growth of the areas.
The chief minister on Tuesday inaugurated the office complex of Public Service Commission (PSC) at Solina and also laid the foundation of Pilot Sewerage Scheme for the Rajbagh area where he interacted with the people.
The chief minister said that the STP near the Zero Bridge will help address the sewerage disposal of the area in a scientific manner. He said Heritage Zero Bridge will be completed within one year. He said the four-laning of boulevard, upgrading of road communication system and additional bypasses are in the offing in Srinagar.

{{/usCountry}}The chief minister inaugurated the new office complex of PSC constructed at a cost of Rs 26.60 crore. The project was started in October 2008.
Earlier, Abdullah laid the foundation of the sewerage treatment plant for the Rajbagh area of Zone-1 in Greater Srinagar. The project involves an estimated cost of about Rs 250 lakh and it will benefit a population of 8500.
The areas to be benefited by the scheme, included Old Gadhanjipora, Kursoo, Aramwari, Zero Bridge, New Gadhanjipora, Pukhtoon Lane. The plant will be completed within a period of three months.
