Beware of fakes on Facebook, state education dept has 3 pages

The move was taken to invite peoples’ suggestions on improving the department’s functioning. However, residents are in a quandary as already three pages with similar names of the education department already exist on Facebook.

This has made it difficult for people to spot the original and the fake page.

Rajeev Yadav, national president, Adhikaar — the rights path, an NGO working for the cause of civil consumer and human rights, said, “The government should lodge an FIR if anyone has created fake pages with a bad intention.”

“The purpose of creating a Facebook page will be defeated if people post their suggestions on the fake page,” he added.

“There are many issues associated with government schools. It is a desired step aimed at bridging the gap between the authorities and parents,” said the father of a Class 7 student.

“The education department should ensure that their page looks different from the fake ones,” he added.
