The KMC also served a notice to Mirza Tanners for payment of house tax dues of Rs 40.55 lakh pertaining to its property in Civil Lines. Mirza Tanners has recently purchased a BIC head office in Civil Lines and house tax of Rs 40.55 lakh is pending against it. The KMC has given time till Saturday afternoon to the Mirza Tanners for payment, failing which the building would be sealed.

In another raid, the KMC team issued a notice to Allahabad Bank on Mall Road. The bank owes the KMC Rs 14.89 lakh as house tax. However, the bank officials promised to pay Rs 4.86 lakh on Saturday and the remaining amount within 15 days.

A member of the raid team informed that the LML guest house was sealed as those concerned failed to give any assurance for payment of dues. It seems that the Allahabad High Court order to deposit Rs 6 crore has compelled the KMC to take stern action against big house tax defaulters. The KMC owes about Rs 68 crore to pensioners and the Allahabad High Court has directed it to clear all pending dues of pensioners.

Municipal Commissioner Badal Chatterjee informed that the revenue realisation drive would be given top priority and action would be taken against big defaulters.
