BJP has questioned West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on her stand regarding Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Hassan Imran’s links to terror outfits like Bangladesh’s Jamaat ul Mujahideen, before her visit to the neighbouring country.
Banerjee is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on February 19 to take part in ‘Bhasha Dibas’ on February 21.
Sidharth Nath Singh, BJP national secretary in charge of Bengal, argued that if terrorists are harboured by Pakistan, India would not have good relations with that country.
Singh highlighted a news report by Hindustan Times stating state and central intelligence agencies have a dossier indicating links between Imran and Shaukat JUMB leader.
“If Pakistan harboured terrorists, will India have good relations with them? Mamata Banerjee must clarify her stand regarding her MP Hassan Ahmed Imran having links with terror outfits of Bangladesh including Jamat ul Mujahideen. She must think before stepping on Bangladesh soil. Already Indian government is embarrassed,” said Singh.
He, however, welcomed the move and stated that BJP wants good relations with neighbouring countries.
He also highlighted that reports have stated that Shaukat met Imran 18 times and that money have changed hands from Bengal to Bangladesh. “According to reports Rs 75 crore have been exchanged between Bengal politicians and JUMB,” Singh said.
