Border checkposts to be manned by police of both states

Checkposts along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala borders would be manned by police personnel of both states to prevent inter-state gangs and also criminals living in these areas escape after serious crimes like Murders, according to Krishnamoorthy (IG) South Zone.

Speaking to reporters after a Law and order coordination meet with his Kerala counterparts SPs and other officials in Theni last night, he said there were reports of unidentified bodies found in border districts and criminals from Tamil Nadu escaping to Kerala and vice-versa.

The meeting would help resolve long pending criminal cases in border districts, wherein criminals had escaped to the other state,ensure coordination at various levels to expedite pending cases and prevent inordinate delay in solving cases in border areas, he said.

He suggested better coordination to check possible movement of Maoists beween the Tamil Nadu and Kerala hills. The meeting would definitely improve the law and order situation in both border districts, he said.
