Boy with suspected symptoms of swine flu admitted to hospital

A 12-year-old boy who arrived in Kochi from the US on June 20 was on Tuesday admitted to a hospital with suspected symptoms of swine flu.

A 12-year-old boy who arrived in Kochi from the US on June 20 was on Tuesday admitted to a hospital with suspected symptoms of swine flu.

The boy, hailing from Ernakulam district, developed fever on June 27 and was initially treated at a private hospital.

Later, the doctor advised him to contact Health Officer at the international airport in Kochi. He has now been admitted to the Taluk Headquarters hospital, official sources said.

His throat swab was sent for testing to the National Institute of Communicable Disease (NICD), New Delhi, they said.

Meanwhile, a seven-year old girl, who was under observation at the Perumbavoor taluk Headquarter hospital, tested negative for the flu, the sources said.
