According to the police, the accused, Mohit Bharadwaj, was an employed with Sector 60-based iEnergizer which provides customer care services to online travel website makemytrip.com.

"Rajeev Gupta, a US resident, contacted the travel portal for booking and the transaction was made by Bharadwaj. The accused took the victim's credit card details to book his tickets to India. However, he also booked five other tickets worth Rs. 1,50,000 on June 18. After Gupta received a notification about the transaction, he immediately contacted makemytrip's head office in Gurgaon. iEnergizer had then terminated Bharadwaj and filed a complaint at the Noida cyber cell," said Triveni Singh, cyber crime cell head.

The accused had joined the BPO in April 2012 and is a resident of Ghaziabad.

Although officials at iEnergizer said that Gupta was compensated, they are taking legal action against their employee to set an example.

Company official claim that Gupta had insisted on seeing a copy of the FIR lodged against Bharadwaj to make sure he does not indulge in such a fraud again.
