Activists of the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad burnt the effigies of CPI(M) MP Brinda Karat in Kanpur and Modinagar, protesting over the allegations levelled by her against yoga guru Swami Ramdev.

In Kanpur, the Bajrang Dal workers burnt the effigy of the CPI(M) leader at Chandrika Devi crossing and also raised slogans against her.
A similar protest was witnessed in Modinagar, where VHP local unit chief Gyan Dev Kaushik accused Karat of "playing at the hands of" multinational companies and demanded that she should issue an unconditional apology to Swami Ramdev.
