Constable Mohmmad Abu Siddiqi had a splinter injury. He was operated upon and has resumed duty.
Besides, civilian Mohammd Taj was injured in the firing in the Mendhar sector of Poonch on Monday night.
The firing at forward posts along the LoC started around 11.30 pm on Monday and continued till early morning. The firing again started in the Mendhar sector around 8.30 am on Tuesday and continued till 11.30 am.
The Border Security Force (BSF) fired back heavily.
The BSF has been deployed at some posts along the LoC, which is mainly manned by the army. Pakistani also fired in the Mendhar sector, Poonch district, on Monday night.
Defence spokesperson SN Acharya said the army gave a calibrated reply. Pakistan fired at Mandi, Digwar and Garhi forward posts. It had fired along these posts on Sunday night as well. The firing was intense at Digwar, about 4 km from Poonch town, resulting in panic among civilians.
There have been nearly 100 incidents of ceasefire violation this year, maximum being in the past one month.
