"We would only encourage all sides to really understand the dimensions of this historic opportunity and that it should not be missed -- and that is the alignment of these two democracies because this underpins this relationship and partnership of trust between the two countries," Ron Somers, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC) said.

The USIBC has in its membership 176 of the largest American corporations investing in India with one new company joining every week.

"It is really about trust and mutual respect. It is much more than just atoms and nuclear energy," Somers remarked.

"Now it is exciting for all US industry -- and our counterparts in India -- that the two governments are catching up, awakening to the fact of the potential we have always seen working together collaboratively. The US industry has always seen the potential and the opportunity of working closely with India", he said.
