The proposal, which got clearance on Wednesday, was pending with the state government for last ten years following an announcement made on the floor of the House by then Energy Minister Padmasinh Patil, to provide pension to then MSEB employees, Workers Federation working President (MSEB) Mohan Sharma said in a release on Saturday.

Accordingly, the employees who have retired from service on or after April 1, 2005 will be entitled for pension benefit.

A cabinet sub committee comprising Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Energy Minister Sunil Tatkare, Non-Conventional Energy Minister Vinay Kore and Water Resources Minister Ajit Pawar met on January 21, after which the proposal was approved.
