GRAM SABHAS in 800 plus remote villages will now easily monitor visits of officials and utilisation of gram kosh (fund) under the Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihood Project (MPRLP) with a user-friendly pictorial calendar.
Conceptualised and published by MPRLP, the uniquely designed calendar seeks to procure first hand data monitored and provided by the targeted rural community. The calendar is interactive and its use will encourage the practice of documentation in the gram sabhas.
Gram sabha members will gradually learn the monitoring process while realising their status and supremacy as a constitutional body.
MPRLP is building the capacity of gram sabhas by improving the level of their understanding on livelihood issues in eight tribal districts- Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol, Jhabua, Dhar, Barwani and Sheopur.
Gram sabha meetings have become more frequent on livelihoods issues with increasing participation of members. The calendar is interactive and is easy to use for villagers. Information about the meetings of the gram sabha, number of proposals put up and passed in a gram sabha meeting in a particular month, next date of the gram sabha, visits of officials, status of gram kosh, repayment of loans will be available in a uniform manner to all members of the gram sabha.
Another significant element is that every gram sabha in the MPRLP villages will have their own calendar. The use of this calendar by gram sabha members will ensure greater transparency and sense of responsibility and they will also learn the importance of monitoring.

{{/usCountry}}The calendar also seeks to educate and motivate rural people through realistic sketches on different themes like `School Chalo’, water conservation, land preparation, use of quality seeds, power of forming SHGs, women’s participation, cattle care and vaccination, availability of job works in rural areas, micro economic activity, plantation drive, rural sanitation and utilisation of the gram kosh.
