Special CBI court here has awarded three years' rigorous imprisonment to a man for submitting fake documents for securing recruitment in the Border Security Force (BSF).
Special CBI Judge, Shubra Singh, held Birbal Singh guilty under section 420 (cheating) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code on Thursday, CBI sources said.
Birbal, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, got selected in the BSF on the basis of fake documents.
According to the prosecution, a UP-based gang was involved in this racket, and about 15 person managed to get recruited in the BSF through it.
Racket came to light in 2002 at BSF's Tekanpur Academy near Gwalior during a probe. In the same year, the Force filed complaints against 14 persons in the Bilova Police Station of Gwalior district.
Later, CBI took over the probe. Three men were awarded a similar sentence in August 2010.
