Former Haryana deputy chief minister Chand Mohammad, alias Chander Mohan, on Monday said he had great respect for Islam but was “returning to Bishnoi faith for his mother’s sake”.
At a press meet, he said, “I have apologised ...to the religious leaders.”
He said he had also apologised to first wife Seema. “I have given up drinking. I slipped and got injured in my hip bones,” said Chand, who is undergoing treatment at Sapra Hospital here.
Meanwhile reacting to her husband’s statement, Fiza a.k.a Anuradha Bali said Chand and his family had “lost their mental balance”.
Lashing out at Bhajan Lal, she said his claims of cutting all ties with Chand did not stand as “the money on his treatment in London was spent by the family”. Fiza said she will contest polls but not against Chand, “as he is mentally not well and I do not want to contest against such a person”.
