A SIX-DAY China Culture Festival got underway at Bharat Bhavan on Sunday. Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma inaugurated the function. Charge d’ Affaires of the Chinese Embassy Zheng Qingdian was also present.
Culture Secretary Pankaj Rag, Indo-Chinese Friendship Association (Bhopal Chapter) president Padmashri Mehrunnisa Parvez, and ICFA general secretary Sriram Sharma were also present.
The programme was organised by the Madhya Pradesh Government and Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in collaboration with India-China Friendship Association.
In his welcome address Rag said Chinese culture had been a source of inspiration all over the world and this festival was an occasion to view Chinese life in the form of rich plethora of photographs and films. Rag enthused confidence that this would open new avenues to pursue creative aims.
In his address Zheng Qingdiam said Indo-Chinese friendship had opened new frontiers of development. It was in the fundamental interest of both countries to further enhance the friendship between the two countries
Parvez said India and China had many common aspects. Both had Buddhism deeply penetrated into their pulse. Speaking on the occasion Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma said China had an age-old relation with India and friendship between the two countries dated back several centuries.

{{/usCountry}}Sriram Sharma proposed the vote of thanks. On the inaugural day a photographic exhibition - ‘ Rediscover China’ was showcased at the exhibition hall. A Chinese film show was later screened at the Antarang Auditorium.
