As the rain lashed the city, reports of technical snags started pouring in from all parts of the city, leaving Kesco officials jittery.

Power failures were reported from all parts of the city and till late in the evening normal power supply could not be restored to affected areas.

Technical snags were reported from Shanti Nagar, Civil Lines, Phoolbagh, Birhana Road, Lal Bangla, Kalyanpur, Krishna Nagar, Gwaltoli and several other areas.

While power supply from the Gwaltoli substation was completely shutdown due to technical snag, feeders of the Riverside Power House and Bijlighar substations developed faults and subsequent power crisis in a large area.

As usual, the southern areas of the city suffered most. Almost all of south city remained without power supply for most of the day. Till late in the evening, Kesco officials could not restore normal power supply to south city areas of Govind Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Saket Nagar, Dabouli, Barra, Naubasta, Juhi, Baradevi, Ratan Lal Nagar, Jawahar Nagar and Gujaini along with several other areas. The shower also caused local faults in the south city.

Despite prolonged moments of power snags, there was no respite from the daily quota to rostering. Power supply to the entire city was snapped at around 2.30 am and was restored at around 5 am. Power went off again at 8 am and was restored only after 2.30 pm.
