‘Support to UPA to continue’
WHEN HIS favourite allies, the Left parties, are hot on the Centre over the disinvestments issue, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav favoured it strongly though with a rider.
While interacting with the chartered accountants here, the CM said he was not against disinvestment at all but not at the cost of small-scale industries. He asked the chartered accountants to formulate such a policy to promote disinvestment and give the SSI sector a much-needed fillip.
“I’m not averse to disinvestments, but I don’t want it to harm the SSI sector in the State. There has to be an equilibrium in place,” he said. The CAs, however, sought representation in the government works akin to their involvement in the recently conducted Zila Panchayat polls.
The CM in turn asked them to submit a demand note on the issue and he would certainly do something positive. “If you had given a demand note earlier I would have had made an announcement right here,” he said at the workshop of Central India Regional Council of Chartered Accountants, at the Ragendra Swaoop Centre for Performing Arts.
Later speaking to newsmen, Yadav said the support his party had extended to the UPA government would last. “Ours is an unconditional support and it will last what come may,” he said referring to a question. But he took a U-turn on Krishnanand Rai murder case and said there was no harm in recommending the CBI inquiry.

{{/usCountry}}Earlier, he was against any CBI inquiry but the Supreme Court verdict made all the difference. On power crisis in Kanpur, the CM refused to offer any cushion to the people. He blamed the Centre and said “if we won’t get any power how can we pass it to Kanpur.”
