Addressing a joint election rally in this Telangana stronghold town with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao,Gandhi chose not to make any commitment on the demand for separate state but said if voted to power, her party would strive for development of the backward region.

Focussing mainly on issues concerning farmers, youth and weaker sections, she told a well-attended public meeting at Polytechnic College Grounds that the "BJP-led coalition at the Centre was steeped in scandals while TDP regime in AP had failed on all fronts."
