Kumar, 25, will be taken to the exam centre by a police party and brought back to the Bhondsi jail later in the day.

Kumar is one of the 300 workers to have got the joining letter after the plant resumed partial productions last week.

This has put the Maruti management and the city police in a spot. Kumar has also moved a regular bail plea, saying the joining letter “per se is a clean cheat”. The court of additional district and session judge HS Dahiya will hear his bail plea on August 30.

Meanwhile, another worker lodged in judicial custody, Baljinder Singh, moved an application asking for permission to appear in an engineering entrance test in Himachal Pradesh from September 15 to 20.
