Additional Sessions Judge Madhu Jain also took a serious view of the failure of the DIG (Jail) to explain the reasons for his absence from the court on the previous date of hearing and issued the notice to the IG (Jail) in the matter.

The court sought the presence of IG (Jail) before it on December 14 as a prison official had not given sufficient reasons for their repeated failure to produce Ansari. DIG (Jail), who himself appeared in the court, could not impress it with the reasons of non-appearance of Ansari before it.

The Uttar Pradesh prison authorities had failed to produce Ansari, the MLA from Mau who is in Ghazipur jail in connection with the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in 2005, before the court, citing his ill-health.

Delhi Police invoked the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) against inter-state gangster Munna Bajrangi and Ansari for running an organised crime syndicate.

Meanwhile, the court remanded Bajrangi, who was produced before it after a 30-day police remand, to judicial custody till January seven.
