Trouble started Friday night with a number of houses being set ablaze and the violence spilled over to the morning, the police said.

Accusing the CPI(M) of attacking RSP supporters, RSP leader and state's PWD minister Kshiti Goswami told a TV channel that he had sought Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattcharjee's intervention to help defuse tension.

Police said the Eastern Frontier Rifles and the Police Combat Force arrested four persons for the violence.
