England forward Wayne Rooney has been voted the ugliest sports star of all time. The Manchester United ace, nicknamed Shrek, garnered 34 per cent of the vote beating ex-England footballer Peter Beardsley (12 per cent) to second place, and toothy Brazilian marvel Ronaldinho and gangly England striker Peter Crouch to third and fourth place respectively.
Research firm Onepoll polled 4,000 female sports fans for the poll.
Spokesman John Sewell said: “Rooney might be ugly — but he still managed to pull Coleen McLoughlin and she’s a cracker”.
At the other end of the scale, former England captain David Beckham has been voted the sexiest sports star of all time, closely followed by French football stars Thierry Henry and David Ginola, reports the Sun.
