Underworld dons Chhota Rajan and Dawood Ibrahim continue to be bitter enemies and developments that unfolded in the recent few years have in fact faded the possibility of a rapprochement between the two, Mumbai police sources said.
The murder of former Chhota Rajan aide OP Singh by Rajan's men and the retaliatory murder of Rajan's close aide Balu Dokre in Malaysia last year by Dawood are the two incidents both dons would not forget and are therefore making all attempts to weaken each other, the sources added.
OP Singh, once a close aide of Chhota Rajan, was wooed by Dawood's right hand Chhota Shakeel to join hands and challenge Rajan in Mumbai, sources said and when Rajan came to know about it, he got Singh murdered in the high-security prison at Nasik in 2004.
Balu Dokre, who ran Rajan's extortion and drug businesses in Malaysia, was the person who leaked Singh's plans to defect to the Dawood camp to Rajan, crime branch sources said. He paid the price for that and was brutally murdered at a park in Kuala Lumpur allegedly by Dawood men on May 22, 2005.
Police said these two incidents have put to an end any possibility of the two dons reaching a rapprochement, as is being speculated in the media.

{{/usCountry}}According to sources, prior to the murder of Dawood man Sharad Shetty in Dubai by the Rajan gang in 2003, efforts had already begun by the Dawood gang to woo prime Rajan men in Mumbai and abroad in a bid to weaken Chhota Rajan.
The move continued even after Shetty's death. OP Singh, the key Rajan man, therefore came under scanner of the Dawood gang, the sources said.
