The death toll in the Etawah road mishap rose to 15 as two more persons succumbed to their injuries in a hospital, a senior police official said on Sunday.
Thirteen people, including 12 women, were killed and three others were seriously injured when they were run over by a truck on Etawah-Farukkhabad road on Saturday night, superintendent of police Rajesh D Modak said.
The truck mowed down the victims when its driver lost control over the vehicle after its axle broke down in Baralok village on Etawah-Farukkhabad road, he said.
Among the injured victims, the truck driver and another person died during the treatment late last night, he said.
District magistrate P Guruprasad has announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to kin of those killed and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
