Delhi boy Arjit Kansal was named the 2014 Microsoft Office Specialist World Champion in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, a popular technology skills competition.
Sixteen-year-old Kansal, a student of Maharaja Agrasen Model School Pitampura in Delhi, beat 400,000 competitors and 123 finalists from 130 countries to win the title.
Certiport, the leading test delivery solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets, recognised Kansal at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship Student Awards Ceremony at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and presented him with a $5,000 scholarship.
"Microsoft Office Specialist certification gives students a way to become tangibly prepared for college or a career," said Margo Day, vice-president of US education at Microsoft.
"Today’s job market requires computer proficiency and all individuals who earn certification have a valuable credential proving their skills. We congratulate the top winners for their extra efforts and look forward to seeing how they put their superior Microsoft Office skills to use in their future endeavors."
Pongsatorn Dhanabordeephat of Thailand won the second place and Vietnam's Phuc Duy Tran took the third place.
Competitors participated in unique project-based tests to demonstrate their ability to create presentations for the information presented in PowerPoint in the final round.

Students compete for the world championship in his or her category - MS Word 2007, MS Word 2010, MS Excel 2007, MS Excel 2010, MS PowerPoint 2007.
The championship was organised in California, USA from July 27 to 30 to test the skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
