The Delhi Police on Thursday released portraits of three of the four accused in the rape of a Delhi University student after the victim provided a description of her attackers.
"There is no breakthrough, but we have closed in on the houses of the prime accused. His friends and relatives have already been interrogated," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Deependra Pathak.
"Hopefully, we are going to nab him by tomorrow (Friday) morning. Over 100 suspects have been questioned and we are also trying to locate the vehicles (used by the culprits)."
According to police, the prime accused is a resident of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
"A team has gone to the hometown of the accused. He is going to be in police custody soon," Pathak claimed.
The student, who belongs to the northeast, was raped early Sunday morning when she was returning from a roadside eatery near Dhaula Kuan with a friend. Four men dragged her into a steel grey Santro car at around 2.15 a.m. and raped her while driving through the city.

"The police needs to be extra cautious to ensure security to women in the Capital," said National Women Commission chairperson Girija Vyas.
However, Minister of State for Home Affairs Prakash Jaiswal sounded hopeful on Thursday.
"Delhi Police have some vital clues in the case. A major search operation is on. The culprits will be nabbed within a day," he promised.
