If fashion forecast by the CTC Plaza is to be believed, once again zardozi and Swarovski will rule the wedding season this year. At a fashion show held to announce the Lehenga Festival at the CTC Plaza, it was evident that the trousseau is minimalist yet elegant.

Models sashayed down the ramp in splashes of blue, red and gold, with sequins and glitter splurged heavily on the sarees and lehengas. Presenting an eclectic mix of lehengas, sherwanis and sarees, the collection is priced between Rs 5,000 to Rs 11 lakh.

The designers at CTC have created a range where lehengas in con-conventional colours like pale mauve, ink blue, turquoise blue and rust compete with the traditional reds, maroons, mustards and pinks. There is a lehenga for everyone to be worn for various functions during the wedding season.

A teenager who wants to adorn a sporty look can go for a chiffon lehenga with large flowers while for an elegant yet understated look, you can pick up lehenga in shades of pink, mustard and beige.

The Lehenga Festival that is on till August 27 will also showcase some exquisite sarees with heavily embroidered kalisand sparkling embellishments of semi-precious stones, metal works and pearls. The lehenga is mostly in the fish-cut style that tapers down to a small flare while the cholis range from noodle straps to backless, cut-away to off-shoulder and corsets.

Compared to the bride’s collection, the groom’s trousseau has little on offer. Sticking to the very basic sherwanis in beige, cream and maroons, the collection lacked the joie de vivre that was evident in the women’s wear.

There’s very little to write about sherwanis on offer, as the forte of CTC Plaza remains sarees and dress material in bright colours highlighted with sequins and embellishments. During the festival, CTC Plaza will also offer free makeover by makeup artist Meenakshi Dutt.
