'Dream to make MTR Foods Rs 10,000 crore company'

In a tete-a-tete with M Rajendran, P Sadanada Maiya, Chairman cum MD of MTR Foods talks about his love for food and family.

When most boys his age were enamoured of sports and other extracurricular activities, he preferred to observe and learn the intricate skills of South Indian cooking from his family members.

"It was this informal exposure, rather than my formal education, that made me what I am today," he maintains.

Bangalore based P Sadanada Maiya, Chairman cum Managing Director of MTR Foods Ltd and partner MTR Enterprises holds a degree in BE (Electrical), but it was his love for the vocation his family excelled in that led him to develop and demonstrate the power of ready-to-make traditional foods.

Maiya's dream is to make MTR Foods a "Rs 10,000-crore" company.

Family life means: Togetherness. I love my family as much as I love my profession. I spend as much time with my wife and children as I can.

When not in office, can be found at: Home. I spend a little time at Karnataka Cricket Stadium where I am an honorary treasurer.

An ideal holiday means: Staying away from work. I enjoyed my holiday when I was on Cruise Star Virgo. No business, no visitors, no phone calls and no newspapers.

Gourmet food means: I enjoy all varieties of food. I need to taste a lot of different cuisines to understand people's tastes. It helps me to develop new products.

Sports: Because of my passion for cricket I have been serving the KSCA for many years as a member and as an office bearer.
