Drivers of Gorakhdham and Licchavi Express suspended

Railway authorities have suspended the drivers and assistant drivers of Gorakhdham Express and Licchavi Express that rammed into stationary trains even as the toll in the rail mishap near here rose to 11 with one more woman succumbing to injuries.

Railway authorities have suspended the drivers and assistant drivers of Gorakhdham Express and Licchavi Express that rammed into stationary trains even as the toll in the rail mishap near here rose to 11 with one more woman succumbing to injuries.

Chief PRO of North Central Railway RD Bajpai said the driver of Gorkahdham Express that rammed into the stationary Prayagraj Express, Jaipal Singh, and his assistant have been suspended. Also, the driver of Licchavi Express that rammed into the stationary Magadh Express, Awadesh Kumar, and his assistant have been suspended.

The death toll in the train accident at Panki railway station rose to 11 with 38-year-old Bindu Sharma, admitted to Halet hospital of Kanpur, succumbing to her injuries late Sunday night. Her husband Arun Sharma is critical, Harishchandra Joshi, GM, North Central Railway, Allahabad Zone, told PTI.

Commissioner, Railway Safety Board, has initiated a probe into the accidents, Bajpai said.

Rail services have been restored between Panki and New Delhi.
