A sobbing 11-year-old Budhan, a native of Bihar, shared his ordeal with the Hindustan Times. He was dumped by his father at Manali a few days ago, who came here in search of work.

He said his father, Suresh, deceived him at a local temple in Manali, where he asked him to wait for some time in temple premises till his return.

Unfortunately, he never came back and Budhan was picked up by an NGO for children in Kullu, which sent him for rehabilitation at a shelter home Kalehli Kullu.

Budhan is now desperate to meet his parents, who started sobbing to recall the memory of his family members.

There are other minors, native of Bihar as well as of Nepal, who have been dumped by their parents. Babu Ram (10) native of Bihar has lost his voice.

Recently the child line has rescued three minor Nepalese children, who were engaged in a child labor at Bhunter.

According to social activists this kind of act by parents put the life of minors in danger. When contacted Deputy Commissioner Kullu, Rakesh Kanwar, said the district administration would make all possible efforts to rehabilitate the children and their rights would be protected.

He said he would ask the authority to look into the matter and if minors are able to explain their exact home address and the where about of their relatives, the district administration would make all possible efforts to locate their destination and entrust them to their relatives.
