Dy PM Advani not sure of Iraq war outcome

While modern equipments, trained personnel and professionalism were crucial, victory in war went to the side that followed truth, Advani said.

In a veiled criticism of the US attack on Iraq, India on Monday charged Washington with not having truth on its side and expressed scepticism over the outcome of the war.

Without directly referring to the ongoing war, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said: "Some countries having the most sophisticated equipment think they can win a war in one or two weeks but if truth is not with them, the conflict could be prolonged and one never knows what would be the consequence."

India has chosen a "middle path" on the Iraq invasion issue and has been only mildly critical of the US action saying it is "unjustified".

While modern equipments, trained personnel and professionalism were crucial, victory in war went to the side that followed 'Satya' (truth) and 'Dharma' (righteousness), he said addressing the 40th anniversary parade of the Special Services Bureau at Ghitorni on the Delhi-Haryana border.

"The Mahabharata and Ramayana show us that victory belongs to whoever is on the right path," Advani said.
