Announcing this here, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Sajjan Singh said there would be a complete ban on the use of aircraft owned by Government and PSU by political leaders.

The only exemption is for the Prime Minister. He said requests were received from some leaders for relaxation of these restrictions for various reasons, including concern for security.

"The Commission reviewed the matter. After taking into consideration all relevant factors, the Commission decided there would be no relaxation," he said.

Singh said the restrictions, however, did not prohibit use of private aircraft by political leaders.

Assembly polls in Haryana is slated for October 13.
