According to sources, the gangster, who is currently facing trial in another criminal case, could be involved in this case. The police can bring him out of jail, if needed, for interrogation, the sources added.

“Two men had gone to meet him in Bhondsi jail recently. We are trying to get information about them to solve the case,” said a police official on the condition of anonymity.

The police said that they had detained three men and had dispatched several police teams to raid various locations across the city.

On Monday, two bike-borne criminals fired three shots at the house of a city-based trader for not paying R20 lakh they had demanded. The criminals also left behind a note, saying if he failed to part with the sum, he would be killed. CL Narang, the victim, puts up at Pratap Nagar.
