The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will next week launch ‘Delhi Dialogues’, an initiative on how to make the Capital a truly global city.
Infrastructural issues and the problems of the common man will be discussed during these events. The focus will be on finding solutions.
The party has planned six events over the next 45 days, an exercise that it hopes will attract middle-class voters many of whom seemed upset with AAP after its leader Arvind Kejriwal pulled the plug on his own government in February.
With Delhi set for fresh elections, AAP on Wednesday started putting up campaign posters boasting of the work it did when in power. Party leader Ashish Khetan said, “We have spoken to experts in various fields in the last six months to look for big ideas, and out-of-the-box solutions to problems such as water scarcity, high power tariffs and unemployment.”
AAP has prepared a blueprint and will launch the initiative on November 15 amid a cultural programme on how to build a world-class city. The party seems to have realised that corruption is no longer as strong an emotive issue as it was a few years ago.

{{/usCountry}}At every Delhi Dialogue, it will take ideas and solutions to problems like housing, waste management, parking or unauthorised colonies to people. “We will address segments such as youth, women and entrepreneurs separately. Based on responses, we will come out with sector-wise manifestos,” Khetan said.
The party said it was not dumping the concept of Mohalla Sabhas based on which it had prepared constituency-wise manifestos in the 2013 assembly polls. Khetan said the former looked at micro issues while the latest initiative will focus on bigger problems.
This election, AAP has also decided to run a ‘positive’ campaign, focusing on its achievements instead of taking on Narendra Modi despite the Delhi BJP saying that it will fight the elections under the prime minister’s leadership.
Aware of Modi’s popularity, Kejriwal has been saying the prime minister cannot be the chief minister of Delhi, and the fight in Delhi will be between Kejriwal and whoever BJP chooses as its face.
