The four-day-long protest at the Dasna toll plaza on the NH-24 here ended on Thursday after the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) called off its statewide agitation, allowing resumption of toll collection.
The toll collection staff at Dasna toll plaza started operating from 9pm on Thursday.
BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said that his agitation has been put on “indefinite hold”. “We have also put on hold the agitation at DND Flyway in Noida and other places in the state,” Tikait said.
Meerut district magistrate Vikas Gothalwal told HT that a meeting was held in Delhi between the DMs of Meerut and Muzaffar Nagar, BKU leaders and NHAI officials to discuss various issues raised by the BKU activists and farmers.
“The farmers have ended their blockades from Siwaya (Meerut), Sarsawa (Saharanpur), Dasna (Ghaziabad), Brijghat (Hapur) after certain issues were discussed and agreed upon in-principle and some were agreed to be acted upon,” Gothalwal said.
Now, a BKU delegation will meet Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on December 13 to discuss the issue.

{{/usCountry}}“The demands at the state-level will be discussed and policy-based decisions regarding rates and tariffs at toll plazas will be routed to the central government though UP CM,” the Meerut district magistrate said.
Relief for Noida authority, cops
The Noida authority officials and police who were keeping their fingers crossed over the BKU’s plans to block the DND Flyway on Friday have a reason to smile after the protesters decided to call off the stir, for now.
BKU leaders will meet the district administration officials and DND operator on Friday at the Noida city magistrate office in Sector 19 BKU chief Rakesh Tikait told HT. They agreed to postpone the protest at the DND toll plaza after UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav spoke to him.
