FIR against Minister demanded as parties trade charges

A day after the INLD-sponsored general strike in Sirsa district, the main opposition party in Haryana on Sunday alleged state Home Minister Gopal Kanda's bodyguards had assaulted its activists during the shutdown, a charge denied by the Independent legislator.

A day after the INLD-sponsored general strike in Sirsa district, the main opposition party in Haryana on Sunday alleged state Home Minister Gopal Kanda's bodyguards had assaulted its activists during the shutdown, a charge denied by the Independent legislator.

As the ruling Congress and the INLD traded charges, the latter demanded registration of an FIR against Kanda and his removal from the Bhupinder Singh Hooda ministry.

"At Kanda's instance our party workers were beaten up during the Sirsa bandh yesterday. Kanda even went to the extent of ordering his bodyguards to shoot at our activists," said Abhey Chautala, son of INLD supremo Om Parkash Chautala.

Talking to reporters here, he demanded registration of an FIR against Kanda, the Minister of State for Home.

"We give 15 days time till April 18 to the administration to register an FIR against Kanda.
