One person was killed and four others injured when a fire broke out today in a chemical factory at Nandesary, officials said.

The blaze occurred this morning at the unit located in an industrial estate in the outskirts of the city and atleast 15 fire fighters were pressed into service to douse the flames, District Collector Vijay Nehra said.

Chief Fire Officer of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) H J Tapariya said firemen fought the flames for nearly four hours before putting it out.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and the victims are yet to be identified, he said, adding, further details are awaited.
