The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Thursday said its candidates list for the first phase of assembly election would be declared by March 15.
The list would contain the names of candidates for 65 assembly constituencies going to the first phase of poll on April 3, APCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita told reporters in Guwahati.
The Congress has already started district wise campaigning and a "Jana Jagaran" month to be ended by March 25 next, Kalita said.
The APCC has invited applications from interested candidates by March 5 for the first phase of poll which would be consequently submitted to AICC, he said.
"According to our assessment, the Congress is definitely regaining power in the election as we have fulfilled 85 per cent of our promise made in the election manifesto last time," Kalita said.
On the Kakopathar incident, Kalita alleged the opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) had provoked the villagers that led to the violent incident and killing of nine people in police firing.
On ULFA, the APCC said it was a positive move to bring them to the negotiating table.
He said development would be the main election plank for his party in the poll.
