After resigning from the post of UDP vice president, Dan, who hails from Jaintia Hills district, formally joined the BJP along with 100 others at a function in Shillong presided over by BJP state unit president AL Hek.

Speaking to newsmen, Dan criticised the formation of Regional Parties Alliance (RPA) by four regional parties as it was done without consulting party workers at the grassroot level.

Lauding the NDA Government for its thrust on rural development and road connectivity, Dan said he joined the BJP impressed with its performance at the centre and its commitment for rapid development of the region.

Supporting Dan's views, Hek said it was due to the NDA Government's efforts that the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute for Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) whose foundation stone was laid by former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi way back in 1986 would start functioning soon.

It was also due to the NDA Government's intitiative that the Leshka hydel electrict project in Jaintia hills was taken up.
